Why Visit Baofeng Lake
A high-gorge lake, dramatic waterfalls, and Tujia folk songs — not to be missed
High-Gorge Lake, a World Classic
About 2.5 km long and 72 m deep on average, the lake is clear as a mirror. Boating on it, you see the surrounding cliffs and peaks reflected on the water — like a painting, a fairyland. It is acclaimed as a "world classic lake".
Peaks & Waterfalls, a Filming Location
A 100-meter waterfall plunges down with great force. This is an outdoor filming location for the 1986 TV series Journey to the West (Water Curtain Cave of Flower-Fruit Mountain), a spot many visitors come for.
Tujia Folk Songs on the Lake
As the boat glides across the lake, the authentic folk songs of Tujia young men and women rise gently and echo the landscape — a cultural experience unique to Baofeng Lake.
A Narrow Gorge, Scenery at Every Step
A natural stone-split gorge, so narrow at its tightest that only one person can squeeze through sideways; looking up, you see just a sliver of sky. Steep, spectacular, unforgettable.
